Skip the Sugary Protein Bars – Try This Instead

Protein bars in the store and loaded with sweeteners to hold them together. Why not skip the sugar and have just the nuts/seeds/berries? Mix and match your favorite ingredients for a healthy, hearty, protein-packed snack. Keep trail mix with you in car, purse, office and kitchen for when hunger strikes to avoid vending machines and drive-thru’s.

Trail Mix

Nuts of choice (mixture of walnut, almonds, pecans, etc.)*
Seeds of choice (pepitas, sunflower)
Dried Berries (mulberries, goji, blueberry, raisins)
Flavor (optional) – coconut flakes, candied ginger pieces, chocolate chips

  1. Mix your favorite combination in a bowl, put into mason jars.
  2. Keeps for 2-3 months.

* I prefer to soak and dehydrate my nuts and seeds prior to storage.
